Jamie and Steve’s wedding celebration took place in Atlantic Beach, NC – where Jamie is originally from. It was an absolute honor to travel down from Charlottesville to capture the excitement amongst this super fun couple and all of their friends and family. They held an outdoor ceremony (braving gusts of wind!) and entertained their guests with a delicious Mexican buffet style dinner. How fun is that?!

A huge thank you goes to my talented friend and photographer Faith Teasley for her incredible assistance capturing their day!

From Valerie (bridesmaid and awesome florist): Jamie and Steve were engaged March of 2014, in Saint Marteen and were the first couple to book the Cottage as it was still, as the bride puts is “a pile of wood!” Luckily this couple is the laid back creative type, so the enormity of the construction project did not intimate them. They had no doubt that the space would be finished and better than they could have ever imagined!

Jamie and Steve chose a palette with shades of nude and muted pastels, with splashes of gold. These colors are so reflective of this couple’s personality: very down to earth, but filled with spark and surprise!

They met the first day Jamie moved to Baltimore from North Carolina. On this life altering day and first day in the big City, Jamie got a flat tire in the McHenry tunnel! She thought maybe that was a sign to turn around and go back home, but it’s a good thing she didn’t! Five hours later, in the midst of a torrential downpour, and after being subjected to the anxiety of holding up inner city traffic for hours, Jamie’s best friend Perry managed to get her out of the traumatizing tunnel experience. Perry did what any best friend would do next – take Jamie out for drinks! It was there that Steve sat next to the beautiful wet rat that would soon be his future wife. It’s funny how one ordinary day can unfold into a complicated challenge that may change the rest of your life.

Many thanks to Style Me Pretty for the beautiful blog feature and to Martha Stewart Weddings for featuring their beach invitations!

I’ve known Danielle since my elementary school days. When she got in contact about having me photograph her and Brady’s Combsberry Inn wedding (a beautiful bed & breakfast on the Maryland Eastern Shore), I was over the moon excited!

The two of them wanted their special day to be a relaxed waterfront get together of their loved ones and their priority was for their guests to truly enjoy themselves. After their pre-ceremony portraits, dark grey rain clouds rolled in and we began to hear roaring thunder. As guests were shown into the Barn where their ceremony was held, it began to pour. The power went out for a brief moment – but that didn’t put a dent in Danielle’s excitement. Being a carefree bride, she chose to spend the day without shoes and, for the ceremony processional, she made her entrance from the Inn to the Barn. Danielle trekked outdoors – barefoot – through down pouring rain with the biggest smile on her face and it was incredible to witness the joy and anticipation that occurred in that very moment.

The rain clouds broke apart soon after the conclusion of their ceremony. Guests made their way to their tented reception and engaged in conversations over delicious small plates and blanket covered seats of hay. Their celebration continued as friends new and old danced into the night with their drinks in hand.
